Al Riveron Is Stepping Down as the ACC's Supervisor of Football Officials
The conference said Riveron’s tenure included a new gameday operations center and live replay-review audio for viewers.
On Wednesday, Atlantic Coast Conference supervisor of football officials Al Riveron announced he is stepping down after four years in the role.
Before joining the ACC in 2022, Riveron spent more than 30 years in the NFL and college football, serving as the NFL's first Hispanic referee and senior vice president of officiating.
Riveron's tenure included moving league headquarters from Greensboro to Charlotte and building a gameday operations center that enabled live replay audio for broadcasts on ESPN and the ACC Network.
ACC commissioner Jim Phillips praised Riveron's "transparency and collaborative approach" for elevating the program, saying the league is "incredibly grateful for all he has done."
The ACC has launched a national search for Riveron's replacement as the football season is set to begin next month.
