Akmal Puts Motorcycle & Farmed Tilapia Up for Bids to Raise RM300K for Teresa Kok After Losing Defamation Suit
Akmal said he will sell his motorcycle and farm tilapia after the High Court ordered him to pay RM300,000 in damages and costs.
- Following a High Court order to pay RM300,000 in damages to DAP politician Teresa Kok, UMNO Youth Chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh announced he is auctioning personal assets to raise the funds for the defamation judgment.
- The lawsuit stemmed from two articles published September 8, 2024, where Akmal allegedly targeted Kok over the national halal certification issue, including comments about a 'Non-Halal Logo' and her background.
- Akmal posted on Facebook that he is selling his Honda X-ADV motorcycle and tilapia fish to cover the RM300,000 debt. He wrote, 'Even writing that I want to sell them feels difficult.'
- Acknowledging the High Court's ruling, Akmal stated he respects the decision and accepts full responsibility for the payment while thanking supporters for their encouragement during this difficult process.
- Because he does not own land or property to liquidate, Akmal identified his Honda X-ADV and tilapia fish as his only fully paid-off assets available to meet the court's judgment independently.
