Key improvements include a reinforced landing gear, specific communications and naval navigation equipment, as well as automatic folding systems for main rotor blades and rear fuselage, optimizing the helicopter for operations on board ships. These features will allow NH90 to transport up to 20 fully equipped soldiers or a light vehicle, and conduct IFR operations with a single pilot, even under harsh night conditions and adverse weather.
