- After the June 22 runway reveal, critics accused Prada of cultural appropriation and failure to acknowledge Indian artisans, labeling sandals as leather without Indian origin.
- Rooted in centuries-old leatherwork, MACCIA President Lalit Gandhi urged Prada to acknowledge the tradition and explore fair collaboration with local artisans.
- Lorenzo Bertelli acknowledged the design inspiration, Prada said it is open to `a dialogue for meaningful exchange with Indian artisans`, and they toured workshops to interact with craftsmen.
- Later this year, Prada's business delegation plans to return to partner with MACCIA, with talks of a Made in India Kolhapuri line boosting the cottage industry.
