East Texas Woman Accused of Allowing Doctor to Sexually Abuse Child for Drugs, Affidavit Says
Investigators say she remained in the room during at least 10 alleged assaults in exchange for Adderall and other prescription pills.
On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, authorities arrested Alicia Evonne Sanchez, 37, in Smith County on charges of continuous sexual assault of a child under 14; she remains in the Smith County Jail on a $3,000,000 bond.
Investigators allege Sanchez took a child under 14 to Kenneth Donald Haygood's office on 10 occasions, remaining in the room during sexual assaults in exchange for Adderall and other prescription medication.
An outcry from the child to a counsellor led to the investigation, while Kenneth Haygood previously pleaded guilty in 2025 to unrelated sexual assault charges, receiving concurrent eight-year sentences.
The Texas Medical Board had previously restricted Haygood's practice and prohibited him from treating female patients, with a disciplinary panel temporarily suspending his license in 2023.
Continuous sexual assault of a child under 14 is a first-degree felony in Texas, and a conviction can carry a prison sentence of 25 to 99 years or life.
