The police expect around 50,000 local demonstrators when the AfD meets in Erfurt from 4 to 5 July. A power struggle for influence is expected at the party congress itself.
A possible "worst-case scenario" was already mentioned. Now internal police documents show that the situation around the protests against the AfD Party Day on the weekend could be even more dramatic than expected.
Jochen Kopelke is the head of the police union. Before the party congress of the right-wing party in Erfurt he warns against dangerous "sog-effect".
