Today's AfD chairman Alice Weill sharply criticized the Thuringian AfD head of state Björn Höcke in internal e-mails years ago for racist statements.
Leaked internal correspondence from the nationalist Alternative for Germany (AfD) reveals behind-the-scenes information about the relationship between the party's co-chairwoman Alice Weidel and its Thuringian leader Björn Höcke. While Weidel now calls Höcke a suitable candidate for government, years ago she called for his expulsion, among other things because of his references to Nazi ideology.
Following a major leak of correspondence between politicians from the German Alternative for Germany party, WELT journalists discovered a surprising change of opinion by AfD leader Alice Weidel towards co-leader Björn Höcke, who expresses racist and homophobic views.
