Adley Rutschman Clubs Two HRs in 'Really Special' Return to Baltimore as Red Sox Hand Costly Loss to Orioles
Rutschman hit 2 solo homers and got a standing ovation in his first game back after Baltimore traded him to Boston.
On Thursday, Boston Red Sox catcher Adley Rutschman returned to Camden Yards and hit two solo home runs, leading his team to a 6-5 victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
The Orioles traded their franchise catcher to the division rival Red Sox in early August, ending his tenure as a draft pick who helped lead the club through its rebuild.
Rutschman received a standing ovation from the Baltimore crowd before hitting a 377-foot blast in the first inning and another in the sixth against Orioles pitcher Brandon Young.
The Orioles now sit 1.5 games out of the final American League wild-card spot, while the Red Sox improved their record to 76-65 with the victory.
Beyond his own power, Rutschman provided critical gameplan advice to teammate Nick Sogard in the eighth inning, who then hit a decisive two-run homer to secure the win.
