Actor Accusing Tyler Perry Sent Text Messages of Gratitude and Friendship Years After Alleged Assault
Mario Rodriguez alleges Tyler Perry made repeated unwanted sexual advances from 2014 to 2019 and seeks $77 million in damages for sexual assault and emotional distress.
- On Thursday, Mario Rodriguez filed a $US77 million lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court accusing Tyler Perry of sexual assault related to his role in Boo! A Madea Halloween .
- Rodriguez says a trainer at a Los Angeles Equinox gym introduced him to Perry, prompting an audition despite Rodriguez having never acted before and alleging unwanted advances until April 2019.
- The complaint details alleged incidents including Perry inviting Rodriguez to his home and touching him inappropriately while watching a movie, plus two 2018–2019 episodes when Perry apologised and stuffed $5,000 in Rodriguez's pocket each time.
- In response, Perry's legal team argued `the claims are fabricated and will fail`, calling the allegation a `failed money grab`, according to Alex Spiro.
- This is the second such lawsuit filed this year after Derek Dixon's June suit, and Jonathan Delshad said Dixon's case moved to federal court in Georgia where claims remain active.
