Acquisition of Real Estate by Non-Canadians

Since January 2023, non-Canadians have been prohibited from acquiring residential real property in Canada. Whether it is a single-family building, a triplex or a condominium, the Act provides for a penalty for offenders and third parties who have assisted them, who are liable to a fine of up to $10,000. However, there are several exceptions that allow non-Canadians to acquire residential real property in Canada.
