The Greek-Israeli agreement on the “Achilles Shield” forms a new multi-layered anti-aircraft and anti-missile architecture, with systems of different ranges, radars and a unified command and control system. The director of the Missile Defense Organization of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, Moshe Patel, revealed to “Kathimerini” technical details of the 3.035 billion euro agreement, which includes the Spyder, Barak MX and David’s Sling systems. …
It is one of the largest deals in the history of Israeli arms companies. Greece is buying sophisticated air defense systems from the Jewish state for 75 billion crowns. The Achilles Shield project – named after the mythical hero who fell during the siege of Troy – could free up Greek Patriot systems for Ukraine. The Czech army has also ordered some elements of this system.
