Accused Delta stowaway had prior airport security breaches, feds say
- Svetlana Dali, aged 57, stowed away by hiding in a lavatory aboard Delta flight 264 from New York to Paris on November 26, 2024.
- Earlier in 2024 and two days before the flight, Dali bypassed security checkpoints at Bradley International Airport and JFK Airport without boarding passes or authorization.
- During the flight, Dali pretended to be sick to stay in the bathroom for hours until crew noticed and confined her before French authorities arrested her upon landing.
- Prosecutors said there is no record of Dali boarding a flight from Bradley or leaving the U.S. In five years, and they seek to introduce evidence of her repeated security evasions.
- Dali pleaded not guilty to federal stowaway charges and was later apprehended trying to cross into Canada after refusing to return to the U.S. Post-arrest.
