A new study by Czech researchers shows that the symbolic landmark of the Czech landscape, Mount Říp, is the remains of a lava lake. It was formed more than 26 million years ago during an explosive eruption of a so-called maar volcano. Domestic experts are thus revealing another example of ancient volcanic activity.
