Three climbers have died while climbing Gran Paradiso, a 4,000-meter mountain in the Italian Alps. After receiving a call for help, mountain rescuers found their bodies at an altitude of about 3.6 km. The group set off to the 4,061-meter peak early Friday morning after spending the night in a mountain hut, but did not return until the evening. That's when help was called.
Three alpinists died in an accident while climbing the Italian mountain Gran Paradiso in the Grajiška Alps on Friday. Mountain rescuers found the bodies at an altitude of around 3,600 meters.
The Gran Paradiso in northwestern Italy is considered one of the most easy to climb four-thousanders of the Alps.
According to official data, two of the deceased were Italians, while the nationality of the third victim was not yet known at the time of initial reports.
Thanks to the GPS tracker one of them was carrying, their bodies were found.
