Candidates for the 2026 National Higher Education Access Competition recorded an increase of 21.8% over 2025, the highest number since 1996, except during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The number of applications is once again increasing to levels similar to those of the pandemic years, when simplified rules for completing high school were in effect: 60,000 students competed in the first phase.
