'Abandoned ideals of empathy, compassion and morality': Hunter landholders slam EnergyCo.

In March 2025, EnergyCo began inviting expressions of interest to select an operator responsible for managing the transmission infrastructure within New South Wales’ New England Renewable Energy Zone.
The call aligns with the state’s strategy to enhance the electricity network and tap into New South Wales’ plentiful solar and wind energy by developing essential infrastructure and transmission lines.
The operator will design energy hubs, maintain community and landowner relations, and support regional job creation and First Nations opportunities.
Hannah McCaughey, CEO of EnergyCo, described this achievement as an important step toward creating a dependable energy system that ensures continuous power supply.
Strong market interest, with 19 parties invited to proceed, will help meet delivery schedules and boost investment in regional New South Wales.
