AAP's Priyanka Kakkar joins Congress: 'No need to let votes scatter now'

- On Saturday, former Aam Aadmi Party Chief National Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar joined the Congress Party alongside former Uttar Pradesh MLA Shyam Sundar Sharma and journalist Rajat Rakesh Tandon in New Delhi.
- Kakkar, a Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court, said she joined Congress to restore the Delhi of her childhood, describing it as green, clean, progressive and safe after more than a decade in Indian politics.
- Sharma praised Congress and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi for remaining dedicated to humanism, stating "Politics means hard work, sovereignty, commitment, and dedication. This thinking exists only within the Congress Party." Tandon cited his family's long-standing connection with Congress.
- Congress leader Pawan Khera claimed the Aam Aadmi Party has grown politically weak and is heading toward "extinction" in Punjab, while the party noted supporters from Ladakh to Kanyakumari are placing trust in Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.
- The defections reflect Congress's positioning as the ideological alternative for addressing youth concerns, with Tandon citing Rahul Gandhi's focus on issues affecting troubled young people and noting "many fell silent, but there was only one person who stood firm: Rahul Gandhi.
