Obama blasts Trump’s ‘chaos and cruelty’ while campaigning for Democrats
Obama blasted Trump’s priorities and a Republican attack ad, urging voters to back Democrats in two competitive Ohio races.
- Former President Barack Obama criticized President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Saturday at a Cleveland rally, calling the administration "not serious people" while campaigning for Democratic candidates before Election Day.
- Obama argued that Trump abandoned diplomacy with Tehran by withdrawing from the Iran Nuclear Deal, which had restricted Iran's nuclear program, and instead started a conflict he claimed would be quick but has now dragged on nearly eight months.
- The conflict has resulted in 21 American service members killed and 865 wounded, while Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz has caused fuel prices to skyrocket, the former president warned.
- Obama's visit to Ohio aimed to boost Amy Acton and Senator Sherrod Brown, who hold 50 percent and 48 percent support respectively against Republican opponents in critical midterm races.
- Recent polling shows 56 percent of Republican voters and 47 percent of Democrats identify ending the war in Iran as a highest priority for the next Congress, underscoring the conflict's political weight.
