Riru Shimabukuro (11), a sixth-grader at Matsushima Elementary School in Naha City, attends the Ryuei-ryu Kimura Shuri Ryuhokan dojo. She has to measure her blood sugar levels every day and sometimes struggles with rapid changes. Despite these difficulties, she has participated in national tournaments twice.
