The archbishop of Toulouse appointed a priest to the position of chancellor who was sentenced in 2006 to five years in prison for the rape of a 16-year-old high school student.

Last June, the Archbishop of Toulouse, Guy de Kerimel, appointed the priest Dominique Spina, convicted of rape of a minor in 2006, to an "administrative" position, explaining that he had "taken the side of mercy."
