Today marks the 84th anniversary of one of the most tragic events in Romanian history, the Fântâna Albă massacre, in which Soviet troops mercilessly killed almost 4,000 Romanian civilians. Tuesday marks the National Day of Honoring the Memory of Romanians, victims of the massacres at Fântâna Albă and other areas, of deportations, famine and other forms of repression by the Soviet totalitarian regime.

Today, April 1, 2025, marks the 84th anniversary of one of the most tragic episodes in the history of Romanians in northern Bukovina – the Fântâna Albă massacre. Approximately 3,000 Romanian civilians were shot by Soviet troops while trying to cross the border into Romania.
