SQ Arrests Man After Suspected Murder in Huntingdon in Montérégie
Police say a man in his 50s died after an altercation, and investigators have arrested a suspect while the motive remains unclear.
- On Sunday night, Provincial police launched a homicide investigation in Huntingdon, Que., after 54-year-old Adam Aitkins died following an altercation on Wellington Street. Officers received the report shortly after 9 p.m.
- Upon arrival, officers found Adam Aitkins unresponsive with injuries consistent with a stabbing. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, prompting the investigation.
- Police arrested a man in his 30s nearby shortly after the incident. Spokesperson Louis-Philippe Ruel confirmed the suspect was allegedly involved in the altercation and will be questioned by major crimes investigators.
- As of Monday morning, investigators had not released specific charges, though the suspect is expected to appear in court in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield where the Crown prosecutor will determine formal charges.
