The reconstruction of the "Slavija" hotel reopened Belgrade's old dilemma - does modernization erase memory or give it a new frame? Although it never got its deserved place in the story of the symbols of Belgrade, the "Slavija" hotel witnessed the political, cultural and social life of the capital for more than a century, and often shared its fate, which is still the case today.
