This high-level French cyclist was placed in custody in the Russian Extreme East, as he was trying to break a world record.
According to diplomatic sources of the AFP and the newspaper Le Monde, a French national, was arrested in Russia and placed in pre-trial detention. Sofiane Sehili is accused of crossing the border illegally during a sporting challenge: he was allegedly planning to beat the world record of the Eurasian crossing by bicycle, from Lisbon to Vladivostok.
In an attempt to break the record of the German extreme athlete Jonas Deichmann, the Frenchman Sofiane Sehili rides through Eurasia. Shortly before the finish in Vladivostok, however, is not waiting for a trophy – but the Russian police, which arrests the athlete.
