A four-and-a-half-degree earthquake hit western Turkey.

An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale hit the Aegean Sea today off the coast of Safri Hisar area in Izmir state in western Turkey. The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Department “Afad” said in a statement that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 6.97 km and its center was 27.65 km from the Safri Hisar area. There were no reports of material or human damage due to the earthquake.
