Angry Teen Jumps Off Cliff, Father Falls Saving Him; Mother Follows in Death
Police said a 19-year-old, his father and his mother died after rescue attempts failed during a dispute over a new mobile phone.
- On Friday, Murlidhar Chandgude, his wife Sangita, and their 19-year-old son Kunal died in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar following a domestic dispute over a mobile phone that ended in fatal falls from a hilltop, police said.
- The incident began when Kunal trekked up a hill in the Tisgaon area after an argument with his parents over a new mobile phone. Anxious about his safety, they followed him to the hilltop to persuade him to return home.
- Murlidhar approached to console his son, but Kunal leapt from the cliff. Murlidhar fell while attempting a rescue, and Sangita jumped immediately after witnessing her husband and son plunge to their deaths.
- Police and fire brigade personnel gathered at the site, attempting to spread a safety net at the base of the hill. Rescue efforts proved unsuccessful as Kunal kept shifting his position along the cliff edge.
- The family resided in the city's Zalta Phata area, and the incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Waluj MIDC. Officials have since recovered the bodies and transferred them for further formalities.
