A drug currently being tested in clinical trials for a rare blood cancer could also be used to treat lobular breast cancer.
Scientists at The Institute of Cancer Research in Sutton have found the LOX inhibitor can slow its growth and spread in mice. Lobular makes up about 15% of all breast cancers, beginning in the milk producing-glands known as lobules. The researchers now hope to progress the drug to clinical trials.
