A bust from a Slovak museum, which was attributed to the Italian Renaissance sculptor Donatello, is a forgery and a replica from the 19th century. Referring to the conclusions of an analysis by Italian Renaissance expert Francesco Caglioti, a senior official at the Slovak Ministry of Culture, Lukáš Machala told reporters on Wednesday.
The bust of Cecilia Gonzaga has been kept in the Spiš Museum since 1975.
Lukáš Machala claims that expert Marta Herucová was politicking when she called for the bust to be returned to Levoča.
