"Reestablishing trust, managing transformation: a United Nations at the service of all" is the theme of the Assembly that begins Tuesday (September 8th). Leaders speak from September 22nd.
Race to the post of UN Secretary-General should dominate the agenda this year, with Guterres leaving office at the end of December, after completing two consecutive five-year terms in the leadership.
While its 81st General Assembly is scheduled to open in New York on Tuesday, the United Nations recognizes that it must regain the confidence of the international community.
The 81st UN General Assembly kicks off on Tuesday, in New York, under the theme "Restore Trust, Manage Transformation", in which will be the last session that António Guterres will mark as Secretary General of the organization.
