With war on their doorstep, Europeans have been warned to prepare survival kits with enough essentials to last them 72 hours, and Britain's leading disaster expert says the idea has been borrowed from Australia.

69.2% of Spaniards are considered "prepared to survive 72 hours without external assistance", as foreseen by the European recommendation for disaster cases, according to the April barometer of the Centre for Sociological Research (CIS).

Half of the Spaniards are in favour of the 72-hour survival kit proposed by the European Commission and, in fact, most citizens claim to have it fully or partially, as recorded in the last barometer of the Sociological Research Centre (CIS) for the month of April.
