Potomac Woman Riding E-Bike Killed In Rehoboth Beach Crash: State Police
Police said the rider left a bicycle lane and entered traffic before a truck struck her, and the cause remains under investigation.
On Saturday, a 66-year-old woman from Potomac, Maryland, died in a collision involving an e-bike and a GMC Sierra 2500 on Coastal Highway in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, around 11:30 a.m.
Delaware State Police reported the e-bike rider left the designated bicycle lane and entered southbound travel lanes directly into the path of the GMC, though reasons remain under investigation.
The truck driver, a 64-year-old man from Perryville, Maryland, was uninjured; the woman was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Southbound Coastal Highway remained closed for approximately two hours while The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit processed the scene and cleared the roadway.
