Drugs Gangs Busted, Weapons Discovered and £600,000 Worth of Drugs Seized
WEST MERCIA REGION, JUL 4 – Operation seized £618,895 in drugs, recovered 20 weapons, safeguarded 14 vulnerable people and involved cooperation between West Mercia and multiple police forces.
- West Mercia Police conducted County Lines Intensification Week between June 23 and June 30, making 65 arrests and dismantling eight drug lines in Worcestershire.
- This operation focused on disrupting the supply networks that use mobile phone lines to transport drugs from urban centers to smaller towns and rural communities, aiming to combat organized crime targeting vulnerable individuals.
- Officers seized an estimated £618,895 in drugs including cannabis, crack cocaine, and heroin, over £77,000 in cash, 20 dangerous weapons, six vehicles, 43 phones, and carried out 34 cuckooing visits, safeguarding 14 vulnerable individuals.
- John Campion, the Police and Crime Commissioner, emphasized that drug-related issues cause significant harm to communities, affecting individuals through addiction and leading to the exploitation of society’s most vulnerable, underscoring the police force’s dedication to maintaining public safety.
- The force is dedicated to ongoing operations throughout the year aimed at disrupting supply networks, protecting vulnerable individuals from exploitation, and intensifying efforts against criminal gangs to deter drug dealers from operating within communities.
