Bangkok roads submerged as flood disaster declared

- Nearly 300 millimetres of rain fell since Thursday, with Bangkok recording 487 millimetres between September 1 and 25—significantly exceeding the historical average of nearly 269 millimetres for the same 1991-2020 period.
- City officials are operating pumping stations at combined capacity of 1,200 cubic metres per second while preparing one million sandbags; authorities opened more than 200 shelters housing around 980 people and transferred 36 bedridden patients to hospitals.
- Governor Chadchart reported mid-afternoon Saturday the situation had "stabilised," estimating two to three days to drain floodwaters if rain ceases; Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced he is cutting short an overseas trip to return Sunday.
- Thai Meteorological Department officials warn heavy to very heavy rain will continue through Sunday due to strong low-pressure system and strengthened monsoon conditions, as more than 84,000 people across 21 provinces face ongoing flooding amid comparisons to the 2011 disaster that killed more than 500 people.
