6-Year-Old Ramon Jett Reported Missing From Riverdale
Authorities deployed specialized teams and asked residents to check properties after 6-year-old Ramon Jett vanished, as officials said he is nonverbal and vulnerable.
On Monday, Clayton County Police Department officers confirmed that 6-year-old Ramon Jett was found dead in a pond near the 8000 block of Webb Road in Riverdale after an intensive search that began Sunday.
The search began Sunday after Ramon went missing between 11:30 a.m. and noon; authorities deemed the situation critical because he was nonverbal and suffered from a mental health condition affecting his ability to communicate or seek help.
Investigators deployed K-9 teams, drones, and a dive unit to locate the child, while the department thanked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children for their assistance.
Detectives are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the death as the investigation remains active and ongoing. The department confirmed the family has been notified and requested privacy during this time.
Officials expressed gratitude to community members who shared information and offered support throughout the search. Police stated additional information will be released as the investigation permits.
