A Setback for UNC: Top‑Rated 2026 Guard Dylan Mingo Reopens Recruitment
Dylan Mingo, the best available guard in the senior class, decommitted after meeting with new coach Michael Malone and will consider other schools.
On Monday, five-star guard Dylan Mingo decommitted from North Carolina, reopening his recruitment and becoming the best available guard in the senior class.
Mingo had committed to the Tar Heels under Hubert Davis two months ago, but North Carolina officially hired Michael Malone on April 7 to replace the fired Davis.
A 6-foot-5 combo guard from Long Island Lutheran High School, Mingo missed most of his senior season due to an ankle injury yet was named MVP of the NBPA Top 100 camp last June.
Mingo is now expected to consider Baylor, Penn State, and Washington, while his brother, Kayden Mingo, is in the transfer portal after leaving the Nittany Lions.
Reflecting on his ambitions, Mingo told ESPN, "Honestly, I am just a person who will give it his all to win a national championship." His focus remains on winning regardless of destination.
