$40M Lotto Max ticket validated hours before midnight deadline: OLG
OLG says it has contacted the validator and is reviewing ownership before awarding the $40 million prize.
A $40 million Lotto Max ticket sold in Grey County, Ont., was validated at an OLG terminal just hours before the expiration deadline at midnight Wednesday.
This $40 million prize was set to become the second largest unclaimed Lotto Max win, trailing only a $70 million ticket sold in Scarborough.
As with all OLG prize claims over $1,000, a review process is conducted to determine rightful ownership; the original buyer's identity remains unknown to the corporation.
The lottery company has contacted the individual who validated the ticket and will now meet with them to determine whether they are the rightful owners.
If rightful ownership is confirmed, OLG will hold a winner celebration and share the story with the public as part of the winner disclosure process.
