About 35 senior citizens were preventively evacuated Thursday night from a nursing home located at Ryder Hospital in Humacao, after a strong smoke emission and burning smell were reported in the residential complex.
Upon arrival, responders detected smoke coming from building 3 of the complex, which required the precautionary evacuation of 35 senior citizens, including bedridden and wheelchair-bound residents.
A total of 35 older adults were preemptively evicted on Thursday night after a smoke and burning smell emanation was reported at the Ryder Hospital in Humacao. According to preliminary information, a call to the 9-1-1 Emergency System alerted about a strong burning smell of unknown origin in the residential complex.
