- The breach occurred due to an international breach of the file transfer software used by BORN Ontario to send information to authorized partners. While the compromised software is no longer in use, BORN Ontario has reported the breach and is working to prevent a similar incident.
- BORN Ontario collects data from healthcare providers to improve care and guide clinical decision making regarding pregnancy and newborns in the province. The agency deeply apologizes for the incident and is taking the matter seriously.
