3-Year Prison Term Finalized for Ex-PSS Chief for Obstructing Yoon's Arrest
The appellate court cut Park Jong-joon’s term after finding he blocked investigators seeking to detain former President Yoon Suk Yeol.
- A three-year prison term was finalized Thursday for former Presidential Security Service chief Park Jong-joon, who obstructed investigators from executing an arrest warrant for former President Yoon Suk Yeol last year.
- The Seoul High Court reduced Park's term from four years to three last week, citing his Jan. 7, 2025, resignation as evidence of accountability and his avoidance of physical confrontations.

- Former PSS deputy chief Kim Seong-hoon has appealed his five-year sentence to the Supreme Court, while Park and prosecutors missed the Wednesday deadline to file appeals.
- The Seoul High Court plans to deliver its verdict in January next year on former President Yoon Suk Yeol's insurrection charges, following his life sentence in February for the Dec. 3, 2024, martial law bid.
