UPDATE: Three Bodies Found in Auctioned Off Burlington Home, State Police Confirm
State police said the new owner found the remains after buying the home as is at foreclosure auction, and investigators see no sign of foul play.
On Sunday, Connecticut State Police responded to a home on Stanwich Lane in Burlington after a new buyer discovered skeletal remains of three people at the property purchased at a foreclosure auction earlier this month.
Town records show Paul and Sally Anne Cash purchased the home in September 2019 for $535,000; foreclosure proceedings began in August 2025 after the couple failed to make payments on their $385,000 mortgage.
Detectives from the Connecticut State Police Western District Major Crime Squad are investigating the case; authorities stated there is "no indication of anything suspicious" or any criminal aspect to the discovery.
The state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has taken the bodies for examination. As of Tuesday, officials have not yet determined the cause of death or confirmed the identities of the three individuals.
Investigators maintain the incident appears isolated and poses no danger to the public at this time as the examination and identification process continues at the Stanwich Lane residence.
