3 People Killed, Several Others Injured After Driver Crashes Into Crowd in Oakland, California
Authorities say the juvenile driver was among the injured as investigators examine how the car hit pedestrians and multiple vehicles.
A driver crashed into a crowd in East Oakland, California, killing three people and injuring five others shortly after 11 p.m. near the intersection of 85th Avenue and International Boulevard on Saturday.
The suspected driver, a juvenile, sustained minor injuries and was detained by witnesses who prevented him from fleeing the scene until police arrived.
Two victims remained in critical condition and another was seriously injured, Oakland Fire Department said. Officials have not released the driver's identity or what caused the crash.
This crash occurred two weeks after a separate incident in the Uptown district, where a car struck seven people, including a 15-year-old, on the 1500 block of 18th Street.
Oakland Fire Department spokesperson Michael Hunt confirmed three fatalities as authorities continue investigating. The extent of injuries to remaining victims has not been disclosed.
