Argentina Make Special Request to FIFA Ahead of Their World Cup Semi Against England
- Argentina submitted a formal request to FIFA to wear their all-blue away kit for Wednesday's World Cup semi-final against England in Atlanta.
- The request stems from superstition, as Argentina wore darker away colors during World Cup victories over England in 1986 and 1998, creating a sense of good fortune around the shirt.
- Lionel Messi, who has worn the traditional blue and white strip in five of six matches, told ESPN, "Personally, it's the first time I'm going to play against them."
- FIFA is expected to announce its decision on Tuesday, one day before the teams compete for a World Cup final berth.
- England reached the semi-final by defeating Norway 2-1 in extra time, while Argentina secured their spot with a 3-1 victory over Switzerland.
