Koepka Goes on Late Birdie Run and Shares Canadian Open Lead with 5 Players
Six players, including Brooks Koepka and Sam Burns, shot 6-under 64 as favorable conditions produced low scores and left 97 players under par.
Six golfers share the lead after the first round of the 2026 RBC Canadian Open at TPC Toronto, with Sahith Theegala of the United States, Brooks Koepka, Sam Burns, Eric Cole, Emiliano Grillo, and Matthew Anderson of Mississauga all shooting 6-under 64 on Thursday.
Ideal scoring conditions at TPC Toronto allowed 97 players from the 146-man field to break par on Thursday, as heavy rainfall around 10 a.m. local time softened the North Course throughout the morning.
Matching the lead, Brooks Koepka and Sam Burns shot 64 on Thursday, with Koepka crediting his putting after four birdies on his final five holes and Burns continuing form from the Memorial.
Leading the Canadian contingent, Adam Svensson of Vancouver sits in a tie for 16th after a 5-under 65, while Taylor Pendrith and Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C. remain in contention for the national open title.
Ahead of next week's U.S. Open, most of the field, including Collin Morikawa and Justin Rose, faces a challenging Friday to avoid missing the cut after opening with even-par 70s.
