Cherie DeVaux Returns to Familiar Saratoga for the Belmont After Her Historic Kentucky Derby

- Five weeks after becoming the first woman to train a Kentucky Derby winner, Cherie DeVaux will watch Golden Tempo run in the 158th Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Race Course to close out the Triple Crown.
- Born in the area, DeVaux later returned to study at the University in Albany before leaving to pursue horse racing, where she started as a hot walker for the late trainer Chuck Simon.
- Establishing her own stable based in Lexington, Kentucky, DeVaux has won major races with horses like She Feels Pretty and Vahva, building a reputation as a top-level trainer.
- Saratoga Chamber of Commerce President Todd Shimkus said, "Having a local connection always just amps up everything around here and the interest level," noting the community has embraced DeVaux's success.
