3-Year Sentences, Likely Deportation for International Students in Horrific B.C. Pedestrian Dragging

SURREY, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA, JUL 16 – Both men pleaded guilty to multiple charges including dangerous driving and face deportation after being sentenced to three years in jail and driving prohibition, court heard.

  • Two 22-year-old men, Gaganpreet Singh and Jagdeep Singh, were sentenced to three years jail and driving bans in 2024 for dragging a man 1.3 kilometers in Surrey, B.C.
  • The incident occurred after Gaganpreet, driving a red Ford Mustang owned by Jagdeep, struck the victim in the early hours of January 27, 2024, while driving around Surrey.
  • Gaganpreet drove away with the victim trapped under the vehicle, later attempting unsuccessfully to dislodge the body at several locations before dumping it on a street while the victim was deceased.
  • During sentencing, chilling 911 call audio played included bystanders saying, "Oh my God, he's stuck under the car," and court evidence showed Gaganpreet's hand contained the victim's DNA.
  • Both men admitted to charges including dangerous driving, not stopping to provide help after the accident, and tampering with a deceased person, and will be sent back to India once they have completed their sentences.
