2 Dead in Small Airplane Crash Near Hesperia Airport
Authorities said the single-engine plane sustained significant damage, and investigators have not yet determined what caused the crash.

- Authorities responded at about 10 a.m. to the crash scene south of Summit Valley Road and east of East Maple Avenue. San Bernardino County Fire Protection District and San Bernardino County Sheriff deputies secured the area.
- Identified as an Aeronca Champion, the single-engine aircraft appeared to sustain significant damage. Responding fire crews observed no smoke or fire in the surrounding area after locating the plane nose down.
- Hesperia Police Department spokeswoman Lyndsi Garrett confirmed both passengers were deceased when deputies arrived on scene. The crash involved two people on board the single-engine aircraft.
- The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash. While Summit Valley Road remains open for travel, officials asked the public to remain clear of the immediate area.
