Two young suspects have been arrested for the murder and armed robbery of a 68-year-old man in the City's Brown Square neighborhood.

Murder Arrest: 435 Smith Street

On August 23, 2025, at about 4:30 PM, 68-year-old Gilberto Morales-Cruz was riding his bicycle alone down Smith St. when he was shot and killed in a robbery involving two suspects. As a result of the investigation, Major Crimes Homicide Detectives identified the two suspects as 18- year-old Yasir Hall and 16-year-old Javeon Lopes (City of Rochester residents).
