- Following a 2007 near-fatal overdose, Eminem entered recovery and channeled his experience into the 2009 album Relapse, which helped him "leave the shame of his addiction behind."
- Wearing a vintage T-shirt featuring D-Nice's 1991 album To Tha Rescue, Eminem recalled needing to "relearn how to walk, talk and for the most part had to relearn how to rap again."
