Man, 18, Brings BB Gun to South Shore Prom, Threatens Student, Police Say
Police said the 18-year-old was detained after allegedly threatening a student and brandishing a firearm, with no injuries reported.
On Thursday night, police detained 18-year-old Adrian Arroyo after he allegedly brandished a BB gun outside the South Shore Technical High School prom at the Indian Pond Country Club in Kingston.
Arroyo, who was not a student but known to attendees, got into a parking lot argument with two students, during which he allegedly threatened to strike one with his vehicle.
Kingston Police Department Chief Brian Holmes stated, 'What I would really hope is that kids have enough sense to know not to bring up a gun that looks like a real gun,' as detectives recovered the black Crossman BB gun from a vehicle in Randolph.
Arroyo appeared in Plymouth District Court on Friday, pleading not guilty to charges including assault with a dangerous weapon; he remains detained pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for June 2.
Authorities confirmed no injuries occurred during the incident, and police maintained an increased presence at the dance to ensure student safety, with the suspect's arrest eliminating any immediate public risk.
