- On Friday, immigration authorities at Faisalabad International Airport stopped 92 Pakistani Sikhs from boarding an indirect flight to India, citing a missing federal No Objection Certificate required by the Federal Investigation Agency.
- Jatha leader Papinder Singh claimed the NOC requirement was never communicated to the group before they arrived at the airport, though FIA officials maintained it was standard procedure for international travel.
- "We have already missed our Faisalabad-Sharjah flight and will also miss our onward flight from Sharjah to Delhi," Singh said. The group spent nearly Pakistani Rs 2 crore on arrangements and remains "highly disappointed."
- Another government official told PTI the group should have coordinated with the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbhandhak Committee and preferred the Attari-Wagah border for crossing into India instead of traveling by air.
- Stranded pilgrims appealed to the Pakistan government for special permission to cross into India via the Attari-Wagah land route, as no direct air, rail, or road link currently exists between the nations.
